Virginia Beach Democrats Launch Early Vote with Energy and Unity

It was a great day to be a Virginia Beach Democrat. On September 19, the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee (VBDC) hosted a powerful Early Vote Kick-Off at Building 16 — and Democrats showed up, spoke out, and energize the beginning of an historic 2025 election season. A Show of Strength — and Optimism

From the first moments, the Kick-Off radiated enthusiasm and confidence. Activists, volunteers, and community leaders gathered under clear skies, carrying the message: Democrats are ready to fight, ready to win, and ready to deliver for our Commonwealth.

We know the stakes — and we know our path to victory. Here in Virginia Beach and across the state:

  • Abigail Spanberger is positioned to win the governorship and reverse the damage of the Trump years — from the attacks on federal workers to economic instability.

  • Ghazala Hashmi is poised to reclaim the lieutenant governor’s seat and help chart a forward path.

  • Jay Jones is on the cusp of a decisive victory for attorney general, defending Constitutional rights and restoring faith in justice.

These victories will help anchor a Democratic resurgence in Virginia — and we’re laying the foundation right here in Virginia Beach.

Building Momentum in the House of Delegates

This local energy is mirrored in our House of Delegates efforts. Our incumbents are ready to hold the line — and our challengers are ready to fight:

These candidates are ready to join their Democratic colleagues in Richmond to:

  • Heal our beleaguered economy and push back on unfair tariffs and federal attacks on workers

  • Enshrine reproductive freedom, equal marriage rights, and protections in Virginia’s Constitution

  • Win meaningful reforms that uplift working families — not corporate interests

Because people in Virginia deserve more than gridlock and partisan extremes. They deserve leaders who get to work, who deliver results.

Transforming Local Governance, One Office at a Time

The momentum extends beyond the legislature. Our city needs leadership, not rhetoric:

  • Phil Kellam for Commissioner of Revenue will cut red tape, promote affordability, and ensure tax systems are fair and transparent.

  • Suzanne Richmond for Commonwealth’s Attorney will shift the face of law enforcement, emphasizing accountability, equity, and community trust.

These candidates are not just running — they are poised to lead with integrity and vision for every resident of Virginia Beach.

What We Saw — and What It Means

From the moment the early vote Kick-Off began, the air crackled with possibility. There were speeches, cheers, hugs, and a clear sense that this is the start of something big. It was an exciting display of what the future can be — and what we will make it, together.

This is the moment when enthusiasm becomes action. When grassroots energy turns into ballots. When a movement becomes a mandate.

Virginia Beach Democrats showed up. Virginia Democrats are ready. Now is the time to vote — and to win.

Take action now: learn your early voting options, volunteer with your local team, talk to friends and neighbors — and let’s turn this energy into victory.
