Jacksonville to return from deployment Monday

NORFOLK The Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine Jacksonville will return from a six-month deployment on Monday. On its first deployment in five years, the Jacksonville made port visits to England, Scotland, France, Spain and Portugal, a news release from the submarine force commander’s office. It left Norfolk on May 30.

Destroyer McFaul heads back home from missions

NORFOLK The destroyer McFaul returns this week from a deployment to the Mediterranean and Black seas that included the delivery of relief supplies to Georgia after its conflict with Russia. The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, which has a crew of about 275, left Norfolk on May 26.

Dock Landing Ship Oak Hill set to return from deployment

NORFOLK When Seaman Daniel Miles first flew into Galveston, Texas, a week ago from the amphibious assault ship Nassau, he didn’t see the damage from Hurricane Ike that was depicted in news reports. “Up top, everything looked OK,” he said Saturday, upon returning to Norfolk Naval Station. “Once we got down on the ground, we saw the water damage.”
