Offshore Drilling Discussion w/Joe Bouchard
Norfolk City Democratic Committee Monthly Meeting Special guest Joe Bouchard, VB, 83rd House District To Discuss Offshore Drilling Wednesday, August 20, 2008 7 p.m., Norview High School (Park on football stadium side) Delegate Joe Bouchard, Virginia Beach, will discuss offshore drilling at the Norfolk City Democratic Committee’s monthly meeting. The leasing of areas of oil and natural gas for drilling off Virginia’s coast, the Navy’s opposition to such expansion into its training grounds, and the role that offshore drilling and alternative energy sources will have in the upcoming presidential campaign will be discussed. During the recent Virginia General Assembly special session, Delegate Bouchard delivered an eloquent floor speech on the threat to military readiness from selling offshore leasing rights to generate revenue to transportation projects.
