Purpose

The Virginia Beach Democratic Committee is the representative body of the Democratic Party of Virginia Beach organized to promote the election of Democrats who are candidates for public office at all levels, promote the growth and success of the Democratic Party, conduct efforts to register all qualifies voters in Virginia Beach, and encourage voters to participate in the political process.

Membership

Membership is open to any who support the Democratic Party and are registered voters of Virginia Beach. Click here for more information on becoming a member.

Bylaws

The Virginia Beach Democratic Committee is governed by current adopted bylaws of the committee.

Leadership

The Virginia Beach Democratic Committee is lead by officers, directors, and committee chairs, elected or appointed according to the bylaws. These leaders together form the Steering Committee of the VBDC. The Parliamentarian and Sergeant-at-Arms is appointed by the Chair, and do not vote at Steering Committee meetings.

Meetings

Business Meetings are held during the first week of each month, unless otherwise announced, at least six times a year. All members of the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee are encouraged to attend business meetings to participate and vote.

Steering Committee Meetings are called by the Chair as situations require. These meetings are open to the public; however, only members of the Steering Committee may participate and vote unless otherwise invited.

All meetings will be announced via email and posted to the website at least seven days prior to the meeting date. Check the Events Calendar for upcoming meetings.

Other Events

The Virginia Beach Democratic Committee organizes and participates in various events promoting Democratic candidates and values.

Third Thursday Dinner and Socials are held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise announced, and is an opportunity for Democrats to come together in an informal way to network and discuss politics.

Fourth Saturday Breakfasts are held on the fourth Saturday of each month, unless otherwise announced, where guest speakers inform local Democrats on a variety of topics relating to Democratic candidates and values.
